This session shares the practical experience of introducing Artificial Intelligence tools in teaching and learning within rural and underserved schools in Kenya. Drawing on work in Kibera and Kangemi, the session explores how teachers in resource-constrained environments can leverage AI to improve learning outcomes, engage students, and bridge the digital divide — demonstrating that innovation in education is possible anywhere.

Ms. Jepkosgei Chemoiwa is the 2025 African Union Commission Best Teacher Awardee, recognised for her outstanding contribution to innovative and inclusive education in Kenya. She teaches at Emining Boys Secondary School in Baringo County and has pioneered the integration of AI-based tools into classrooms in underserved communities, including Kibera and Kangemi. Her work demonstrates how determined educators can transform learning environments even in the most challenging circumstances.
